What is Community Acupuncture?

Community Acupuncture is a radically accessible approach to wellness. It reimagines acupuncture as an affordable, community-centered experience—rather than an exclusive, high-cost service. At Affordable Acupuncture CDA in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, and Rathdrum, our mission is to break down cost barriers and make acupuncture a healing resource that’s available to everyone.

Understanding the Model

Traditional acupuncture clinics in the U.S. often operate like private medical practices: you book a time, pay a premium for an hour of the practitioner’s attention, and are treated alone in a room. The community acupuncture model offers treatments in a calming group setting, with patients deeply relaxing in zero-gravity chairs for up to a full hour and fully equipped to their liking with blankets, earplugs, eye-masks, and even hot stones.

  • Why group settings? Shared healing spaces reflect practices found in China, where acupuncture is a medicine served to the community at large. Treating multiple people at once allows acupuncturists to reduce overhead and, in turn, dramatically reduce the cost per treatment.
  • What does it cost? At Affordable Acupuncture CDA treatments are just $40 per visit – costing only a third of the national average for private acupuncture. You don’t need insurance. You don’t need to sacrifice quality of care for quantity of treatments. You can get the care you need, as often as you need it.

How Does It Work?

You simply show up—scheduling online is highly encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. You’ll take a seat, receive a personalized holistic health assessment (utilizing the methods and principles of Chinese Medicine), and be treated with either acupuncture or needle-free acupuncture in a relaxing, communal environment. The space is serene, allowing you to enter a deeply relaxed state along with others receiving treatment.

This system offers several important benefits:

  • Affordability: Lower prices mean more people can access frequent, consistent care.
  • Accessibility: More appointment slots allow for greater availability and even walk-in flexibility.
  • Sustainability: By keeping our clinic busy and efficient, we can maintain these low prices while ensuring you’ll have reliable access to care for years to come.

Our Mission & Vision

Affordable Acupuncture CDA was founded by Conner Kees and Laura Rose Gage to address the unmet healthcare needs of the Coeur d’Alene community. Laura Rose Gage, a fourth-generation Idahoan with deep roots in North Idaho, brings extensive expertise in women’s health, fertility, and pregnancy care. She co-founded Pullman’s first freestanding birth center and combines traditional acupuncture with modern approaches like polyvagal theory and somatic healing modalities. Her passion lies in supporting individuals to awaken their own healing power. Conner Kees brings a unique perspective from his journey through the Southeast, Southwest, and Hawaii. A specialist in biohacking, applied biophysics, and hypnosis, he created North Carolina’s first low-EMF acupuncture clinic and has authored a book called Trusting Your Foundation. His work centers on the spiritual nature of healing, embracing the ancient wisdom that “all disease begins in the Heart.”

Together, they bring 27 years of clinical experience and over 7,300 hours of training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Both hold Masters Degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, are licensed in Idaho, and are nationally board-certified acupuncturists. Their core commitment is to provide holistic, accessible care for everyone—including those without insurance.

The Heart of Community Acupuncture

Community acupuncture is more than a business model. It’s a philosophy rooted in wellness equity, mutual respect, and the power of collective healing. By reducing barriers, we aim to build a healthier, more resilient community here in North Idaho. The shared healing space creates an environment that many patients find even more powerful than private treatment—there’s something profound about healing alongside others in your community.
